About Dallas, TX

Dallas is a big city in a big state, where everything seems a little larger than life. When you’re spending time in and around Dallas, you’ll never run out of things to see or do. The city boasts 20 distinct neighborhoods, each with its own attractions and unique characteristics, so there’s no reason to hesitate; any time is a great time to discover Dallas.

See the City

Whether you’re in Texas hoping to relax or party – or do some of each – Dallas has attractions to suit your purposes. For a calm, pleasant afternoon, you can spend your day walking through the 5.2 beautiful acres of Klyde Warren Park and dine on food truck fare. A trip to one of Dallas’ many museums is another way to spend a relaxing day in the city, from the Dallas Museum of Art to a specialized site such as the Nasher Sculpture Center or Crow Collection of Asian Art.

After a day of relaxation, it’s time to let your hair down. There are plenty of sights and sounds to discover after dark in Dallas. You can enjoy a Latin dance party at the Candleroom’s International Friday events, with music until the wee hours and creative drink options. When a late-night cocktail is on the menu, you can also grab a signature margarita at Revolver Taco – open until 2 a.m. every weekend. The nightlife in Dallas also contains plenty of LGBT-friendly options, including the well-known Round-Up Saloon and many other stops in Oak Lawn.

If you come to Dallas in the fall, the State Fair of Texas makes a perfect destination. Given the state’s propensity for scaling things up, it’s no surprise that the fair is massive in its scope and ambition, stretching for more than 20 days and encompassing musical performances, carnival rides, arts, crafts and a host of agricultural contests and events.

For year-round family fun, you can try the Dallas Zoo, Dallas Aquarium, Rory Meyers Adventure Garden or Dallas Arboretum. For kids who have an interest in science – or big dinosaurs – the Perot Museum of Nature and Science is a must-see. Prehistoric fossils show the gargantuan size of dinosaurs, mammoths and other extinct wonders.

Enjoy the Region

Dallas isn’t the only city in its area. Stopping in nearby Fort Worth can give you an exciting link to history and culture, with the region’s cattle-herding past very much felt. Structures from the Wild West era from 1866 to 1890 still stand in Fort Worth, and stops such as the National Cowgirl Museum and Hall of Fame keep traditions alive.

Unique and exciting experiences await in Dallas and Fort Worth.
